Living Creature

“Living Creature”

Everyone is afraid of death; I dread my own unremitting life.

How dreadful it is when death does not want you and repulses you.

“Rupture”
The word “rupture” can refer to a sudden interruption or separation, both in terms of physical things like a ruptured muscle or tube, and metaphorically like the collapse of a human being.
The “Rupture” project :
The “Rupture” photo series was captured using an analog camera. The reasons for choosing analog photography include:
-The lack of choice in capturing the photo, since in analog photography, errors and the accuracy of the shot are not apparent until the photo is developed. Through this method, I limited myself by removing the ability to make adjustments post-capture and introducing a self-imposed constraint.
-The project’s theme involves a character (myself) attempting to escape or transition from a confined space marked with the color red. This red boundary was initially tested with my own blood on transparent glass, then with red vitreous paint, and finally, to balance form and meaning and to avoid overstatement, I utilized red Plexiglas. I made use of slow-speed photography to capture this escape and the effort to move through this constrained space.
In the “Rupture” videos, the repetition of images and the manipulation of speed create a similar sense of ongoing struggle. The videos feature a recurring element within a space that the character attempts to navigate or escape, with the space itself seeming to control or limit the character’s movement.
All photos and videos were created when I was alone, with no assistance from others. The solitude involved in capturing each image and video reflects the character’s struggle to overcome the conditions depicted.
